Angela Diana (Dee) Finnegan
November 23, 2021
Angela Diana Finnegan (Dee), 83, passed away on Tuesday, November 23 while visiting her daughter, Linda Finnegan, in Park City, Utah. She passed peacefully after having spent a beautiful day filled with art, good food and laughter. Born in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Isabella Saracino. She is preceded in death by her husband, John (Jack) Finnegan, who died on November 22, 2015 and her sister, Julia Uzee. Dee was a doting grandmother who never missed an opportunity to cheer on her grandchildren at a soccer game or dance recital, or to listen to some music they created. She was curious, and loved to read and learn new things. She often had long conversations with her grandchildren about politics, music and pop culture, listening intently, even if she disagreed with the point of view taken. She had a great sense of style and though never formally educated beyond high school, was a natural at finance and design. She created the perfect apartment for herself and her husband above Julie’s house, and spent many happy years entertaining there. Dee loved to travel and lived in Italy and Germany when she was younger. She had a sense of adventure and a great sense of humor that stayed with her until she passed. In her last week on earth, she took in the mountains of Utah, visited an art exhibit and enjoyed spending time with her daughter. She will be missed by all who knew her. Dee is survived by three daughters, Linda, Lisa Finnegan Abdolian and Julie Sullivan; a niece, Diane Uzee, a great niece, Alexandra Holtz (and her daughter, Eliot), a great nephew Kyle Holtz, and six grandchildren, Collin, Riley, Casey, Leila, Mawuyna, and Doris. A memorial service will be held on December 29, 2021 at 10:45 at St. James Roman Catholic Church, 429 25A, Setauket, NY 11733. A celebration of life party will follow at the Old Field Club, 86 West Meadow Road, Setauket, NY 11733.
