Gusman Medardo Vigil

"Wedo"\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nOur beloved father "Pops", grandfather, great\r\n\r\ngrandfather, brother, and uncle passed away on June\r\n\r\n16, 2018 after a long battle with cancer.\r\n\r\nGusman, 81 was born June, 8 1937 in El Rito, NM to\r\n\r\nJose and Aurora Vigil.\r\n\r\nOn July 27, 1960 he married his honey, Erlinda Baca.\r\n\r\nShortly thereafter they moved to Salt Lake City, UT\r\n\r\nwhere together they raised six children that he was\r\n\r\nvery proud of and loved with all his heart.\r\n\r\nAs an amazing father he loved every possible second\r\n\r\nwith his family. He loved family gatherings, trips to\r\n\r\nWendover, western movies, taking care of his yard,\r\n\r\nsports, and being devoted to the Catholic faith.\r\n\r\nGusman was a devoted sports fan and was loyal to the\r\n\r\nGreen Bay Packers, New York Yankees, and University\r\n\r\nof New Mexico Lobos. Pops especially loved coaching his\r\n\r\ndaughters in softball.\r\n\r\nIn 1974 he was awarded the Deseret News Citizens Alert\r\n\r\nAward for being a true life hero. He will be deeply missed.\r\n\r\nWedo is survived by his children, Eric, Jeff, Mark (Donna),\r\n\r\nRuth (Brian), Pamela (Ezra), and Taralyn; 16 grandchildren,\r\n\r\n23 great grandchildren; brothers Johnny and Jerry;\r\n\r\nsisters Lillie, Sarah, and Dulcie; and many nieces and\r\n\r\nnephews.\r\n\r\nHe was preceded in death by his wife, his brother Levi,\r\n\r\nsisters, Rosarita and Cindy, and grandson Markie Jr.\r\n\r\nA special thanks to the doctors and staff of Utah Cancer\r\n\r\nSpecialists, Gamma West Cancer Services and Valeo\r\n\r\nHome Health Care.\r\n\r\nA funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, June 22, 2018\r\n\r\nat 11:00 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church,\r\n\r\n3560 West 3650 South. A vigil service will be held\r\n\r\nThursday, June 21, 2018 at Neil O'Donnell and Sons\r\n\r\nMortuary, 372 East 100 South, where friends may call\r\n\r\nfrom 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Committal, Mt. Calvary Catholic\r\n\r\nCemetery, 4th Avenue and T Street.
