Kathleen Wood Grinaker

October 29, 1947 - November 23, 2021

Kathleen Wood Grinaker was better known as “Kathy,” “Faffy,” or “Apple Gramma” to those that knew her best. She was born on October 29, 1947, to Darlene B. Wood and Daniel Wood Jr. in Salt Lake City. She married Curtis N. Grinaker on September 9, 1967. They had three children: Danielle, Brandon, and Mikelle, who in turn gave Kathy seven grandkids: Caulin, Gabrielle, Royce, Reeve, Noelle, Emmelie, and Vivienne. If there is one thing that Kathy will be remembered for, it was fitting so much life into each day. Kathy loved to fill that time with three things more than anything: Family, traveling, and shopping. Anyone who met Kathy and spent any significant time with her knows that she had a passion for shopping. The natural byproduct of her numerous shopping sprees was that Kathy gave the most thoughtful and personal gifts. Coupled with her passion for travel, she took to the road on many occasions in her beloved VW Beetle to destinations near and far. Kathy was also nothing if not well-travelled. Married to her high school sweetheart, Curt, Kathy made numerous trips to Europe and explored much of the U.S. One of her favorite places to visit was South Carolina as Kathy and Curt spent the early days of their married life in Beaufort while Curt served in the U.S. Marine Corps and Kathy never tired of revisiting the area. Even as of 6 weeks ago, Kathy was on a girls’ trip to New York City with Danielle, Mik, Gabi, Noelle, and Emme. It is fair to say, Kathy was always most at home when she was on the road. But there may not be anything that was more important to Kathy than spending time with family, whether it be going to Lagoon with her grandkids, visiting Brandon, Stacy, Royce, and Reeve in Florida, or hosting family dinners. Faffy, as her grandkids knew her, was always present at soccer and baseball games, dance recitals, birthdays, or really any major event. She was a pillar in all of her grandkids lives. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Darlene Wood, her infant brother, and her beloved husband Curtis. She is survived by her three kids, Danielle Price (Michael), Brandon Grinaker (Stacy), and Mikelle Lamoureux (Jonathan), along with her seven grandchildren Caulin and Gabi Price, Royce and Reeve Grinaker, and Noelle, Emme, and Vivi Lamoureux. We will all miss you, Faffy.
