Madeline A. Archuleta
August 21, 2018
A day after her 91st birthday, Madeline passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 21, 2018. She was born August 20, 1927 In Francis, Colorado to Frank and Frances Ocana Martinez. She had recently celebrated her 71st year of marriage to her lifelong love, Benjamin Archuleta. Dedicated to her husband, five daughters, 14 grandchild and 23.5 great grandchildren, she prayed for us all, especially those in most need at the time. She would light up to see any one of those kids walk through the door. She raised her family with hard work, great cooking, good humor and song. We are grateful for the clean house, green chili, tortillas, good coffee and especially for making us laugh.\r\nEarly in life she raised a garden, fished, rode horses and canned anything she could get her hands on including choke cherries. In retirement, her great joy was hooking up the travel trailer and heading south to meet friends and family for bingo, drinks and storytelling.\r\nHere we are, wondering how we are going to live without her: Ben (Madeline's 24/7 caregiver), "Dad, you are our hero, how do we ever thank you for taking such good care of mom?" Daughters: Evelyn (Gilbert) Ulibarri, Priscilla (Joe) Quintana, Pat Archuleta, Carol (Skip) Watts, Shelly (Matthew) Archuleta-Boyce. Mom's strong faith, loving influence and well placed guilt moved us to work hard and love each other.\r\nMadeline is survived by 2 brothers and 2 sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, one sister, a granddaughter, Melanie Hope, and son-in-law, Skip Watts.\r\nWe will come together to pray, say goodbye and celebrate her life with food and stories, please join us.\r\nWe would like to thank Brooklyn Bell of Good Shepherd Hospice for the loving care she gave our mother.\r\nA Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, August 25, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 331 East South Temple. Just prior to the mass on Saturday friends and family will gather at Neil O'Donnell and Sons Mortuary, 372 East 100 South at 11:30 a.m. for a visitation followed by the eulogy and Holy Rosary at 12:30 p.m. Committal, Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 4th Avenue and T Street.\r\nDinner will be held after the committal at Miss Billie's Kids Kampus, 232 W. 800 So. Salt Lake City. Please bring your memories of our mom, we would love to hear them.
