Beverly Ann Vanderlinden Noble's Obituary
Beverly Ann Vanderlinden Noble, our loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away March 13, 2025 surrounded by family. Beverly was born April 22, 1929 to Aart and Nellie Vanderlinden in Salt Lake City, Utah. Bev married her high school sweetheart, Ray Noble on February 22, 1947, later solemnized in the LDS Salt Lake Temple.
Beverly had one younger brother, Paul; when they were little they lived on a ranch in Big Cottonwood Canyon. There were wild pigs on the ranch and Bev liked to chase them, but this scared her mother to death. Their dad taught them to drive at young ages - Paul was allowed to drive at age 14 and Bev was allowed to drive at age 15.
When Bev was older, living in Salt Lake City, she and her girlfriend decided to dye their hair black. Everything in the kitchen was dyed black but her hair. She never attempted to dye her hair again, even though people questioned it. Another time, Bev and her friend were asked to play a duet in Sacrament meeting. Bev had asked her boyfriend to come to church with her. When they sat down to play, they started laughing and got the giggles so bad, they quit playing, got up and walked out of the meeting, leaving her boyfriend at church.
Bev and Ray met in high school and dated all their senior year and were married the following February. Together they raised their 8 children, 5 boys and 3 girls. There is a 17-year age difference between the oldest and youngest which kept Beverly on her toes. Beverly lived in her current home since 1955.
Bev was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Bev had a passion for teaching relief society, especially in the skilled nursing facilities.
Bev and Ray loved to travel, whether on business trips with Ray or with family and friends. Trips to Hawaii, cruising, St George, Zions, Pacific Northwest, California, Palm Springs, Zions, train trips, Mexico, Holland, Germany, Belgium and her favorite annual Bear Lake family reunions. Her first time to Bear Lake was when she was two years old, and she went almost every single year thereafter. One of her favorite stories to tell was the year her dad took the tires off of his truck and took the tubes out so the kids could use them to float in the lake.
In 1968 Bev began working as an elementary school secretary for multiple schools. In the early 80’s Bev became friends with the PTA president, Barbara Walkenhorst, and the two of them opened “I DO” catering. Together they ran this business for 25 years and involved their family in their success.
Bev loved playing cards and was in several bridge clubs. Besides Bridge, she also loved playing other card games, especially with her best friends Claudia and Marilyn.
Beverly is survived by seven of her eight children: Art Noble; Scott (Josie) Noble; Carole (Paul) Chapman; Mark (Diane) Noble; Kathy (Joel) VanOrden; Blair Noble; Shauna Noble; and by 23 grandchildren and 54 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Ray; son, RJ; parents; brother; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
A celebration of life will be held on March 18, 2025 at 12pm at Skyview Ward 1361 E. 4000 S. SLC, Utah. A visitation will be held from 11-11:45am. Interment will take place at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery 3115 E. 7800 S. Cottonwood Heights.
