Ismael Mercado Borrero's Obituary
Our beloved father, uncle and friend Ismael (Tony) Mercado Borrero, passed away at 104 years of age. He was our hero to the end.
He was born on February 8, 1920 in the little farming town of Milpitas, California to Jose and Maria Borrero. He was the sixth of seven children. In 1940 he entered the United States Army Air Force. He served his country during World War II. Without a shadow of a doubt he was one of the greatest. He served with honor, principal and positive mental attitude.
In 1945, he returned to the US and fell in love with a dark-eyed Senorita, Ludivina Louise Valdez, they were married in 1946, they were unable to have a large wedding or afford a honeymoon but their marriage was filled with happiness, love and respect. Ludivina was the love of his life, the treasure in his heart and the light that made his spirit shine. Despite the challenges he faced he always supported and took loving care of her.
Tony retired from the Air Force in 1964, he then worked at the Sacramento Army Depot for 21 years.
Tony loved and cherished his family, friends and country. He stood tall, acted with integrity and brought joy and comfort to everyone he met.
His wife, Ludivina, and siblings all preceded him in death. It is a comfort to know that Tony and Ludivina are reunited. He is survived by his two sons, Anthony (Stephanie) and Michael; Sister-in-Law, Mary Burgess (Steve) and many nieces and nephews.
