Grandma, you will always be forever in my heart and soul…!!!
One of my earliest memories in this world is living as a young boy with our Grandma and Grandpa Martinez…I wasn’t any older than maybe 5 years old at the time. I was enrolled into a school near their home in Murray, Utah. At this time I wasn’t aware that my name that everyone in the family had been calling me wasn’t my “real” name. On my first day of school after role call I was left there uncalled and unaware that the last name called was in fact my name. When asked what my name is I replied with “my name is Bo”. These people were confused and I was completely sad that they were trying to insist that I must be this “Alex” character that was last to be called in this list they had there. By a simple process of calling “Alex’s” contact info they came to the conclusion that I was in fact this character “Alex” that I have never met or thought of before this day…So, I am crying in the chairs in this unfamiliar place called school (Horizon Elementary School). However the day just got better…In comes our Grandma…I remember running to her and saying “these people are calling me a different name”…I was scared you know. I didn’t understand and in truth I felt like I was in trouble. Grandma right there in the school sat down with me and explained to me the reason for me having 2 names. Grandma didn’t make me endure more of this day there at the school. She stood up and with a smile said “Bo, let’s go to the ZCMI and get some nachos, it’ll be so good you’ll love it”…!!! After our meal I remember Grandma got me a stuffed animal (I want to say it was a brown bear). From that day I understood how and why I will forever have 2 first names in this world that I will answer to without hesitation. Just one of many great memories that I have of this Beautiful Woman and her Amazing Legacy that is here in this world for all of us to adore and admire in astonishment…!!!
I believe this experience with our Grandma some how implanted the love for nachos and stuffed animals…Our Grandma also taught me how to crotchet as well and was blessed to make her a pot holder…!!!
Thank you Grandma for everything you are in this world and the next…we will see one another again…!!!
