Mona Lisa Burwell's Obituary
Mona Lisa Burwell was born June 13, 1969 in Los Angeles and passed away on May 2, 2022 in SLC at the age of 52. She is survived by her 8 children (Sandra, Moices JR, John, Michael, Alejandro, Lilliana, Rebecka, and Ricardo), 17 grandchildren, and 7 siblings.
As a young woman she took on many responsibilities. Growing up in a family of 9 she helped her mom with her siblings and household duties. Mona became a mother at a very young age, but that didn’t change what an amazing mother she was to her 9 children. As a mother she experienced the heart breaking tragedy of losing her daughter Enedina at the age of 3 years old.
One of her greatest joys in life was spending time with her grandchildren. They truly were the light of her life, and kept her fighting for as long as she did.
Mona loved to share her love for cooking and even created her own cook book. So many of us are thankful to have learned to cook from her. She also made beautiful blankets for her loved ones. We are so grateful that we have those memories of her, that we can cherish forever and share with future generations.
Mona fought many health battles in her lifetime. We sometimes felt as though she was invincible. She was such a strong woman who lived a difficult life.
No matter what obstacles she experienced, Mona remained resilient.
Not only was she a great sister, mother, mother in- law, and grandma, she was a friend to all. She was a very giving person and would do anything to help those in need. Anyone who had the privilege of having her in their lives was blessed with Mona's beautiful soul.
We are all taking comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain, and she is at peace in heaven with her daughter Enedina and her mother Gloria and other loved ones. She will forever be loved and missed by everyone.
