Nellie Jo Vigil Garcia's Obituary
Our sweet baby girl Nellie Jo Vigil Garcia passed away peacefully on July 22nd with her parents by her side, into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ. She was welcomed into Heaven by her grandpa, Jose Benjamin Vigil and grandparents, Mike, and Bertha Garcia. Nellie was the last person Grandpa Benny spoke to before he passed away and we are sure, his voice, was the first voice she heard, as she entered the gates of Heaven. “Hi, mi Hita”
Nellie Jo was born on July 5, 1986, and was named after her great grandparents, Nellie and Joe Raso. Although her time on earth was short, Nellie had many accomplishments. Her greatest being the birth of her son David. David was her life. Her love, light, pride and joy and she was the best Mommy to him. Nellie was a Youth Ambassador for Taylorsville City and traveled to New York City and Washington D.C. as a representative to the National Youth Leadership Conference. She attended Girls State in Cedar City and was an Alter girl at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church.
Nellie is survived by her son, David Espinoza, her parents Mike and Benita Garcia, brothers Michael (Carly Jo) Garcia, Anthony Garcia, her nephew Noah, her niece Isla Josephine who arrived a few days after her passing. Also, her Grandmother Josie Raso Vigil, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who all loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her Grandpa Benny, grandparents Mike and Bertha Garcia, Aunts Valeen and Connie Garcia. Also Step-Grandfather Vern Barton whom she had a very special bond with.
Viewing and Rosary will be held on Monday, August 2nd from 6:30p to 8:00p at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1058 West 400 South, Salt Lake City, UT. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 3rd at 11:30am. Committal, Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery with luncheon to follow at St. Patrick's Catholic Church Hall. MASKS ARE MANDATORY INSIDE THE CHURCH FOR BOTH SERVICES. Thank you for your understanding.
Nellie was a beautiful, strong-willed, and kind person. She had the biggest heart and wanted to help everyone before herself. Her sadness and self-doubt were always there.
