Alfonso Renteria's Obituary
Al ‘Poncho Renteria passed away at the age of 60 on April 23, 2025 at home of natural causes. He was born in Salt Lake City, UT on November 24, 1964 to Refugio and Juan Renteria.
Al was more than just a man. He was a brother, a father, an uncle, a cousin, a friend, and a “G Daddy” because he was too young for grandpa… He was so much more.
Family is what mattered the most to him. He had a heart of gold and would always put others' needs before his own. Al was genuinely happy with the smallest and simplest things in life. He dreamed of a peaceful life with family, good food and a cold beer. He was happiest when everyone was together.
Although he was stubborn and never took no for an answer, he was always willing to help no matter what time of day. He would give you the shirt off his back if you asked him.
Al loved a good prank or two. He had the most contagious laugh and gave the kind of hugs that you felt in your soul. Al, your wings were ready, but our hearts were not.
Family would like to thank all the skilled nurses and doctors who assisted Al. A big thank you to his many friends he met especially William, they made a great connection, and their friendship still continues.
A special thank you to his siblings who became his main caregivers so he wouldn't be alone.
Al Our Brother, you've been welcomed back home by Mom and Dad and many more family and friends who have left before you.
You will be deeply missed by us but at peace now.
“To my dad, when you see this. I love you”
Al is survived by his daughters Melanie Williams, Nicole (Brent) Robinson, Cassie (Eddie) Borrego, Alicia (Lee) Robinett. 11 Grandchildren. The most loving and supportive siblings are Jose Luis “PePe” (Julie) Renteria, Maria Teresa (Cory) Lyman, Georgia (Mike) Maloney, Miguel “Mike” (Juanita) Renteria, and Gloria (Saul) Castruita. He leaves behind his best friend of 17 years Antonia (Toni) Rodriguez and her daughter Sierra whom he cared for just as his own daughter. We can’t forget the many, many loving nieces, nephews, cousins.
A celebration of life will take place as the weather warms, bringing together those who knew and loved Al to remember and celebrate his life.
