Angeline "Angie" Lavis Fleck's Obituary
Angeline “Angie” Lavis Fleck, age 87, passed away peacefully on the evening of March 8, 2023, surrounded by her family.
She was born on September 25, 1935, in Deer Lodge, Montana to Paul and Anna Lavis. Angie went on to graduate in 1953 from Powell County High. Angie was musically inclined in her own right; she played piano on the local radio station in her hometown.
In 1955, she married the love of her life, Andrew Fleck. Angie and Andy went on to have five children. Andy, Diane, Steve, Mike, and Connie. Angie lost her husband on February 23, 1970, and independently raised her five children. Angie was the perfect example of “never give up and never make excuses, no matter what life throws at you.” She was a dedicated mother and attended all her children’s sporting events, even while working multiple jobs.
Angie worked for over 30 years for the Division of Wildlife Resources while starting part time at the law offices of Ray Quinney and Nebeker. After retiring from DWR, she went full time to RQN and continued to work for 35 more years.
Known to many as “Momma Ang”, this sweet little lady touched the lives of many. Momma Ang was a sports fanatic to say the least. For many years she was the head score keeper for the Rose Park little league and Babe Ruth baseball as well as being a long-time supporter to the Ute Conference little league football.
She was a Utah Jazz season ticket holder for 37 years, but nothing compared to her beloved Utah UTES. She was season ticket holder for the Utah basketball, football, and gymnastics teams. Don’t let her catch you wearing that blue, or she’d be quick to throw up that “U.”
Momma Ang’s love of family was undeniable. Some of her favorite family gatherings were Christmas, Halloween, and backyard BBQs in the Summer, where she never missed the opportunity to take a family photo. The Other Place restaurant was her brunch spot where she would take each of her family members for their birthdays. Grandma Ang was not only a grandma, but a great and great-great grandma. She loved all her grandkids very much.
Another one of Momma Ang’s loves was traveling. Hawaii is where she traveled to most. She visited 41 times, starting in 1982. She would always return home with a sun-kissed tan, a turtle souvenir, and gifts for the family.
We are all going to miss this small statured quick-witted lady, with her cute little fro. She let us know it was time to go. We will miss her presence and shed many tears. Remember next time you are at Rice Eccles, she will be at your side helping you cheer. She will always be with us, so no more crying. Picture her in heaven “Sweet Caroline’n- Bom Bom Bom!”
Angie is survived by her children; Andy (Stacey), Diane, Connie; grandchildren, Ashley (Brandon), Tiffany, Andre, Monique, Kary, Ryan, many great and great-great grandchildren, extended family, and the best of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew, and two sons, Mike, and Steve.
"She lived, she loved, she laughed, she left."
Me ke aloha, a hui hou!
