Anthony Jakubisin's Obituary
1946-2018\r\n\r\nOur beloved Father, Brother, Grandfather & Great Grandfather, Anthony Jakubisin, 71, of Taylorsville, died on Feb 19, 2018, following a long struggle with liver disease. Anthony was born June 29, 1946 to O'Nelia Griffin Jakubisin and Leonard George Jakubisin Sr in Canton, Ohio. His family moved to Salt Lake City in the early 1950's.\r\n\r\nTony remembered fondly, growing up in Sugarhouse in the 50's. He recently talked about the wonderful smell from the NuCrisp Pop Corn store as we walked home from school and that we played for hours at Fairmont Park without our parents. We just had to be home before dark.\r\n\r\nAnthony was a member of the Catholic Church having been baptized as an infant and receiving his first Communion and Confirmation at Saint Ann Catholic Church. Tony was a feisty kid and certainly got into his share of trouble as he grow up. Mom always said he needed the most attention, even as a baby. (He was her favorite.) He spent much of his work career working with his Dad in the furnace and air conditioning business. Tony's problems with alcohol began in his teens and lasted most of his life.\r\n\r\nAfter his Mother passed away in 2002, Tony became his Dad's caregiver. Leonard had become handicapped by a series of strokes in 1995. Tony lived with and cared for his Dad until his Dad's death at age 86 in 2012. His efforts were so much appreciated by his family.\r\n\r\nTony was married to Trudy Sanders, (now divorced) and Teresa Tennis (also divorced).\r\n\r\nHe had 5 children, Tony Dion and wife Laura, Rodney and wife Shiela, Gwendolyn, Nick and wife Zenovia, and Amber and husband Michael Pelton. He had 15 grandkids and 5 great grandkids.\r\n\r\nSurvived by his children and their families, all of Salt Lake and close vicinity, brother Leonard and wife Cheryl, Sun City, California, and sister Teresa Wesemann of Salt Lake. Many nieces and nephews.\r\n\r\nPreceded in death by his Parents, his brother-in-law Wolfgang Wesemann, sister-in-law Sharon and brother-in-law Roger Brown.\r\n\r\nA funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, February 28th, 1:00 pm, Saint Ann Catholic Church, 450 East 2100 South, followed by a committal service at Elysian Burial Gardens 1075 East 4580 South.
