We are all so sad to hear this news. On behalf of the South High School Class of 1969 we send our heartfelt condolences. Barbara was such a kind and caring person.
Barbara was more than a stepmother to me and my sister, Niccole; she was a bonus mom and a friend. Even though her marriage to my dad didn't last long, she continued to open her heart and home to my sister and I, and we spent many nights at her house watching videos and spending time together. One of my favorite memories from this time (I think I was about 8) involved giving her dog Missy a bath. After we dried her, I asked Barbara if I could use her special perfume (Gloria Vanderbilt, I believe) on Missy to make her smell fancy, and I was so excited when she let me. :)
Barbara knew how to make someone feel special, especially a lost little kid who didn't feel like anything special at all. Even as I grew up and we gradually stopped communicating as regularly, Barbara always held a place in my life. She never failed to remember a birthday and I was so excited to introduce her to my daughter a few years ago. As Maya Angelou said, "People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel.” And Barbara made everyone she knew feel special and loved. She will always hold a place in my heart and I will miss her for the rest of my life.
Thank you for being a part of my life, Barbara. I love you.

They say that cousins are your oldest friends. I don’t remember a time when Barbara wasn’t in my life. We were planning a cousins’ birthday lunch when I heard the sad news. I will miss your family photos and encouraging Facebook posts. I will miss you. Sleep well, my dear cousin.❤️

Barbara it was always such a pleasure to see you, it was always nice to know we’d run into you at some of the gatherings. You’d always welcome us with open arms, made it feel like we were family I absolutely loved how you loved my kids like they were your own family. You are definitely going to be missed, I’ll be sure to check in on MoniQue for you like I’m sure many of us will.
I have many fond memories of the “Utah Cousins” coming to Idaho for 4th of July each year. Barbara didn’t miss a celebration. She was such a sweet lady and I admire her dedication to her family. May she rest in peace.
