Barbara was 13 years old when I, the youngest daughter of the Floyd (Rusty) Smith family, was born. My mom always told me that Barbara was a second mother to me for all of my early years. I remember being very sad when she left Payson for SLC. Later, as Barbara's children came along, I had the privilege of staying with the McGurks and taking care of little Pat and Terry during the summer, and later, John helped me get summer jobs at SLC swimming pools, and I stayed even more summers. After high school, I went to the University of Utah, and once again, Barbara and Johnny opened their home to me. Truly, Barbara was a second mother to me for many years! As adults, the 4 Smith sisters spent many happy times together going on trips, going to lunch, and playing card games. To the very end, Barbara could hold her own! Fittingly, she won the last card game we played. I treasure every memory and every minute that we had together. Love you forever and always, sweet Barbara. Til we meet again.... --Connie Smith Cloward, -- youngest sister
Dear Pat and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Your mother was so special and so courageous. I was able to visit her before covid and share communion with her many weeks. She had a deep faith and always had a cheerful greeting. I am sending love and prayers your way and will have a mass said for her. God bless you all, Joan Mirka
Mom, I miss you so much. We had a lot of fun shopping for clothes you did not need at the D. I., but it gave you so much joy that I took you anyway, walker and all. I think of you and dad everyday. May you rest in eternal peace. Pat
