Bertha E. Garcia's Obituary
Our beloved mother, Bertha E. Garcia, born July 6, 1935 died February 7th, 2018 Born to John and Carmen Escandon in Columbia, Utah, she married Mike Garcia Jr. April 30, 1955.\r\n\r\nDespite being diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis in the 1990's, Pancreatic Cancer in 2004 & Lymphoma in 2015 along with other health issues she lived a full, faithful and spiritual life.\r\n\r\nMom was a very loving, understanding and forgiving person. She would give her last dollar; her home was always open to whomever needed a pillow or whatever was needed to others.\r\n\r\nShe loved growing up in Carbon County. After marrying Mike, they moved to Hiawatha, Utah. They then moved to Salt Lake in 1959 and raised their family. Mom enjoyed Wendover, shopping, socializing, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a long-time parishioner at St. Patrick's Parish and was celebrated as Women of The Year. She loved family get togethers, dancing to Mexican music, Elvis, Mariachis.\r\n\r\nThe last chapter of her life, she enjoyed her new home and friends at Golden Living. She looked forward to bingo, crafts, sing-alongs and the many activities they offered, along with visiting with her friends.\r\n\r\nA special thank you to her grandsons, Mark who was able to meet many of her needs and Christopher who assisted her and allowed her to stay in her home on Indiana as long as she was able to. We would also like to thank the aides and med tech's who took special care of mom on a daily basis, along with her nurse Carrie and aide Gigi from Rocky Mountain Health & Hospice. Their personal touch was appreciated by her family.\r\n\r\nMom donated to many Catholic Charities, one of her favorite being an Orphanage in India. Box 415, Roosevelt, UT 84066.\r\n\r\nSurvived by her daily companion Georgia, best friends and children Linda (Randy), Johnny (Loretta), Mike (Benita) & Louise, Grandchildren: Joe, Jennifer, Mark, Christina, Christopher, Nicci, Stephanie, Sean, Nellie, Lindsey, Michael, Anthony & Katy. Great Grandchildren: Elicia, Lexie, Isabella, Lillian, Logan Benny, Nevaeh, Jessica, Samantha, Lucas, Laila, Mercedes, Marquis, David, Malia, Maeko & Mira. Brothers & Sisters: Ricardo (Ellie), John (Francis), Lena (Steve), Lavinia (Raul), Bea, Louise, Carlos (MaryAnn), her Garcia In-Laws, many nieces, nephews and Godchildren along with many close friends. Preceded in death by her mom & dad, husband, Mike, daughters: Connie Mary & VaLeen Christine, Sisters Maurine, Eva & Lydia and many loving family and friends.\r\n\r\nA Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1040 West 400 South. A Rosary will be held Sunday 7:00 p.m. at Neil O'Donnell Mortuary, 372 East 100 South, with a viewing 1 hour prior. Internment Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 4th Ave & "T" Street.\r\n\r\n
