It's a shock to hear that Brenda has died - she always stayed the same age in my mind, and she was so lively and engaged that it doesn't seem right that she isn't any more. I didn't see her often; although we both lived in Arlington, VA for many years, except for two occasions, I only saw her at family reunions in Oklahoma. I'm not sure why we didn't hang out together - I enjoyed talking to her, and as a librarian, I had a fair amount in common with her. But in my mind, Brenda was an Oklahoma person, and that's where I saw her.
I always think of Brenda's activities at the family reunions (for other Wesners, I'm Jerry's oldest). She often got some of the kids together to do a skit about our forbears, and the kids always enjoyed the experience. She was also the person who often sent out stories about ancestors she'd found out about in her studies, and I owe it to her that I know that at least one of our distant ancestors was either born or moved to America in 1640. I've quoted that to many people, over the years.
I haven't been able to make it to the last several reunions, and although we've lost a lot of family over the decades, it's Brenda whose absence will really stick out like a sore thumb the next time I do make it to one of them. I'll miss her.
