Carlos Victor Garcia's Obituary
Carlos, 58 our beloved brother and uncle continued his spiritual journey Saturday, October 17, 2021.
He was born on May 7, 1963, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Blandina Govea and Juan Garcia. He was fondly referred to by mama as “Gitos”. And although he was a generous and kind man due to his gruff exterior he was affectionately known by his family as ”Uncle Bear”.
Carlos loved to camp and fish and had an affection for his cats. He was passionate about cars and barbequing, naming the make and model of cars on sight and was always experimenting and looking for the perfect BBQ sauce. His laugh was infectious and would have the whole room laughing in a matter of minutes. Carlos was hard working and had a twenty-two-year career at Salt Lake Community College in the Facilities Division, and in 2002 was a recipient of the “Outstanding Employee Award”.
He is survived by his six siblings Joanne Tuero Velez, Carmen Chiapa, Diana Murphy, Anna Tidwell, Richard Garcia, and Benito Garcia along with many nieces and nephews. Carlos is preceded in death by Mother Blandina Govea, Father Juan Garcia, Brother John Tuero, sister Lucina Inez Garcia and stepbrother Farley K. Brokaw.
Our sincere thanks go to the kind staff Neil O’Donnell Funeral Home, Mt Calvary Cemetery, and St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. A rosary will be held at St Vincent’s Church on Saturday October 30, 2021, at 9:30am followed by a “Time of Remembrance” at 10:00am, and a Mass at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers and luncheon, donations can be contributed to The Humane Society in Carlos’s name. In addition, there will be a “Love Box” that will be donated to the parish for their services.
