Cruzita 'Cruz' Maciel's Obituary
Cruz Maciel, aged 96, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2024, surrounded by her cherished family. Born in Montana, she traversed through California, Idaho, and eventually found her home in Utah alongside her beloved husband Marcelino Maciel and their eight children: Gloria, Marcelino Jr, Teddy, Robert, Beatrice, Alice, Helen, and Eleanor.
Known for her boundless sense of humor, always joking with her grandchildren, she laughed until she cried, and created unforgettable memories for all those around her. She found solace and joy in the simplicity of painting her nails in vibrant colors and indulging in her morning cup of coffee. Her passion for music resonated through any surroundings where she was present, with the melodies of Los Tigres Del Norte and Vicente Fernandez followed by her famous joyous grito yell.
A devout churchgoer, Sundays held a special place in Cruz’s heart as she eagerly anticipated Sunday Service followed by brunch with her family. Fond memories were often associated with the aroma of freshly made tortillas, the rich scent of brewing coffee, and simmer of beans on the stove, creating a comforting ambiance that was synonymous with Cruz’s presence.
Cruz was preceded in death by her beloved husband Marcelino Maciel and her daughter Alice, yet her spirit lives on through her remaining children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who will continue to cherish her memory. Though she has departed this world her vibrant spirit remains etched in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
