Debra Lee Candelaria's Obituary
Debra “Debbie” Candelaria, 66, of Salt Lake City, Utah passed away on December 4th in Salt Lake City surrounded by those who adored and loved her the most.
She was born on March 12, 1957, to Mary “Angie” Duran and Benjamin (Benny) Gallegos in Salt Lake City, Utah. She considered Benny a father figure.
Debbie found interest in accounting and become a valued employee in the finance department at the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake. For years, she was an active member of the Catholic Church and at one point was a catechism teacher at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish.
She was a strong, independent, and hard-working woman who overlooked her own needs, but was quick to lend a helping hand to others. Debbie had a big heart that was full of love. She cared for many regardless of the situation, and was someone many leaned on and looked to for advice. It was clear by Debbie’s actions that she loved her family and would do anything for them. Her son John, and granddaughter Nikki held a special place in her heart. As well, as Joseph and Andrea who were raised by Debbie.
Debbie liked the finer things in life. She loved her diamonds and was the fashionista of the family who LOVED to shop and enjoyed pampering herself by getting her nails and hair done. She would shop at all hours of the day or night or until the stores closed. Debbie loved her mom’s dog Luna, who was always by her side.
Our hearts are shattered and have an emptiness without you. It is a surreal feeling with you no longer with us. Our lives with never be the same without you. We will forever miss you and we love you so much Deb!
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, aunt Mary Sandoval, and uncle and sister-in-law Tommy and Joy Duran. She is survived by her son John Jaramillo, sister Cindy Martinez, Jose Guanajuato who she considered a brother, and closest cousin Mary Valerio, grandchild Nicolette “Nikki”, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews and Godchildren.
A Rosary will be held at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, on Thursday, December 14th at 1:30 pm followed by a Celebratory Funeral Mass at 2:00 pm, located at 331 East South Temple, Salt Lake City. A graveside service will be held immediately after at the Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
