Delphina Miera Sanchez's Obituary
Delphina Miera Sanchez, 72 passed away peacefully at home due to complications related to Parkinson’s Disease on January 2, 2023. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Robert Sanchez; sisters, Teresa (Miera) Gallegos, Rosa (Tanaka) Yates (deceased), Patricia (Miera) Trujillo, Mary (Nena) (Miera) Brown, Diana (Miera) Lozano, Irene (Tanaka) Mercado, and Olivia Tanaka; brothers, Joseph (Miera) Brunetti, Joe (Tanaka) Mercado, Roger Tanaka, and Fermin Miera Jr. (deceased); uncle/brother Andy Miera Sr.; son, Jeremy Chavez; step-children Patrick Sanchez, Lisa Sanchez, Alex Montoya, and Greg Kelly; 15 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and close friends.
Delphina was born to Fermin Donaldo Miera and Consuela Mata on November 18, 1950, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from West High School in 1968 and went on to complete her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Utah in 1983. She spent the majority of her highly successful 23-year career at Allstate Insurance Company first as a Claims Adjuster in 1985 then as an Area Agency Manager until she medically retired in 2008.
Delphina, or Fina as she was affectionately known, was strongly committed to her family, her faith, and her career and was passionately active in each of them. She and her husband were members of Mountainview Christian Assembly for 28 years. Her positive outlook, strong spirit, and kind heart left an impression wherever she went. Delphina was happiest when she was boating at Lake Powell swimming and water skiing, traveling the world with family and friends, or cooking with her sisters. She was most famous for her delicious pecan pie, rum cake and carrot cake.
Delphina always went out of her way to help anyone in need and had an incredible work ethic that will forever be remembered. Her family will miss her but rejoice knowing after many years battling Parkinson’s she is at peace in Heaven with Christ and enjoying her restored body and reunion with the loved ones who have gone on before her.
Family and friends are invited to join in a memorial service for Delphina on January 14, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Neil O’Donnell Funeral Home located at 372 E 100 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84111 followed by a procession and burial at Salt Lake City Cemetery located at 200 N St E, Salt Lake City, UT 84103. Reception information will be provided at a later date.
