Donald D. Chacon's Obituary
\r\n"Our Soldier"\r\nOur beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew, and grandfather passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 9, 2016. Donald was born on March 30, 1957 to John and Ursula Chacon.\r\nHe grew up in Salt Lake City where he learned to play ball and to get into lots of trouble with his childhood friends. When Don turned 18 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he went in a boy and came home a man.\r\nAfter taking a year break from the military life he joined the Utah National Guard where he made ever-lasting friendships. He served on the 140th Field Artillery Regiment. Don loved his military life just as much as he loved his civilian life. He said, "the military shaped him into the man he became."\r\nThe joys in his life have always been his friends and family. He literally was the life of the party. He loved with all his heart his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was a proud man of his family. Nothing made Don happier than making others happy. His heart was almost too big to go around.\r\nHe married Janis Nelson (Stallworth) on May 19, 1984, later divorcing in 2003. On June 16, 2015 Donald married Sandra R. Winter in an intimate ceremony surrounded by family after being together for 11 years. Donald and Sandy made a life together in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Don was joined nearly 18 hours after his death by our sweet and loving Aunt Ruth from Denver, Colorado. Until we meet again.\r\nDonald is survived by wife, Sandy Chacon; daughters, Jill (Trevor) Francis and Chantel (David) Artaza; sister, Rebecca Atwood; brother, John Chacon; Aunt and Godmother, Lucy Valerio; Step-children, David, Ron, Dan, Diana, and Deni; Lots of grandchildren, step grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren.\r\nPreceded in death by both parents; sister, Dorothy Chacon; Uncle, Herman Valerio; brother-in-law, Jerald Atwood.\r\nA Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday April 19th 11:00 a.m. at Saint Ann Catholic Church 450 East 2100 South.
