Eddie Leon Paul's Obituary
In loving memory of our Son, Brother, Partner, Nephew, Uncle, Cousin, Friend,
Leon Paul who was born in Salt Lake City on October 26, 1964 to Lena and Tob
Paul. He passed suddenly on December 4th after suffering from a brain
aneurysm.
Leon was devoted to his family and had a very special bond with his
mother, who lovingly cared for him following a devastating stroke in 2018.
Leon was a one of a kind brother and adored by many cousins, aunts, uncles
and grandparents and friends. Growing up, he cherished going on the hunt with
his father and the hunters in the family, and loved spending time in the
mountains. He was raised in Rose Park and graduated from West High School in
1983. Afterwards he attended vocational school to learn auto body repair; which
served his passion for classic car restoration.
He lovingly restored his classic ’63 Chevy convertible to pristine condition; and
took joy in taking his little cousins "cruising." Leon was married to his high
school sweetheart, Jackie Lettig from 1995-2000. They enjoyed travel, time with
friends and watching their Raiders play (bad) football. Leon was proud to work
at his families restaurant, Lorena’s - where he was loved by co-workers and an
entire community of customers. His spirit, smile, easy going nature and humor
literally made friends out of EVERYONE he met.
Leon loved music, helping others, lucky red sevens, family vacations, and his
very precious fur babies - Toby and Peanut. He also had a strong belief in his
faith, angels and mysteries of the unexplained. We are grateful and blessed, that
through his final act of generosity, he is a miracle worker and will change
countless lives through organ donation.
Leon is survived by his loving parents, sisters Sandra, Yvonne (Pete), and Laurie,
nephew Manny (Karen), niece Gianna and his partner Debbie Richmond; her
daughter Yolanda (Miguel), sons, Jeremy, Micheal (Amanda) and Daniel; for
whom he was a loving father figure. The family wishes to thank Nicole for her
devoted friendship and the staff at Lakeview Hospital, the SICU staff at the
University of Utah along with the AMAZING team from Donor Connect who have
provided so much compassionate care and support as we navigated the
unthinkable journey to say goodbye, until we see you again.
A memorial service will be held at Neil O’Donnell Funeral Home (372 East 100
East) on Sunday December 10th, from 4:00-6:00 pm, where we encourage
friends and family to gather to share memories.
