Edna Jane Martinez's Obituary
Edna Martinez, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, returned to our Lord on Wednesday, August 25th, surrounded by her family.
Mom was born on April 5, 1927, in Highland Boy, Utah, and graduated from Bingham High School. Mom loved the mountains of Highland Boy and almost every day of her life would say, “I love our mountains!” She was a mountain girl.
Mom is preceded in death by her beloved husband Cirilo Martinez of over 50 years. Mom was the love of his life. Edna is survived by her children: Patrick (Elia); Loretta (Donald); James (Liz); Madeline, Margaret, Cyril, Bernadette (Greg); Marian (Jesse); and Genevieve (Todd), and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with another on the way. She is also survived by her brother Roy and many nieces and nephews.
Mom’s life journey was full of historical events but she always managed to see the brighter side of life even through difficult times. She loved all people and always saw the good in every person she met.
She was a true Christian. She loved her Catholic faith and prayed daily, offering her prayers for her children, grandchildren and the homeless. Mom was blessed abundantly through her unwavering faith in God. She had such purity, grace and goodness. The past year was difficult when she was unable to physically attend Mass but she found great comfort in “attending” Mass in churches broadcasting from all over the world.
Mom left a gift of love. We miss you so very much.
In lieu of flowers, our mother would like you to do something good every day and to show love to one another. You may also donate to Maryknoll or any other service that assists the poor. Mom gave a little but Mom gave all. She gave her heart.
Viewing and rosary on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 1030 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church followed by the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
