Eremita (Mita) Garduno's Obituary
Eremita (Mita) Garduno, age 83, peacefully passed away on November 13th, 2022 due to heart related issues
.
Mita was born on January 8, 1939 in Ensenada, New Mexico. She had loving parents, Bernie and Andres Jaramillo, and two loving brothers, Leo and Paul. She later moved to Utah when she was a young girl.
Mita graduated from West High School. She then went on to marry her husband, Cecil Garduno, in March of 1956. Together, they raised three children: Jerry, Benny, and Danny. Both Mita and Cecil were blessed to almost celebrate 50 years of marriage together before Cecil passed in 2005. In the years to follow, Mita invested herself in various jobs and activities including her latest and most beloved job as a Costco Sample Associate, where she enjoyed socializing with new and returning customers every day. She had finally decided to retire at the age of 80, when she found it would be more suitable to spend her time focusing on her health and loved ones. With more time to invest in herself, she would attend nights of bingo with her friends a few times a month.
She enjoyed crocheting and doing crafts. She always kept herself busy by spending time with friends and playing card games. Most people will smile knowing that going to Wendover was one of her favorite outings. She has been to Wendover countless times over her lifetime. She enjoyed these trips with family and friends and would often take the “Fun Bus”. She had amazing luck (and skill) at winning the slot machines. She would say, “I need a new appliance.” She would go to Wendover and win enough money to buy an appliance. The trip and the company were always far more valuable to her than any winnings she won.
Mita was known for her loving nature and her sweet laugh. She had lifelong friendships and maintained close relationships with her loved ones. She was most known for always having her home open to anyone who wanted to visit no matter the time or day. It was in her second nature to ensure that any and all never left her home hungry. Even when she didn’t feel her best, her hospitality ensured a true “at home” feeling.
Mita was a two-time survivor of breast cancer. She always had a positive outlook in regards to her treatments. Life was very precious to her and she faced each time with great courage and grace.
Mita was survived by her three sons: Jerry (Pat) Garduno, Benny (Lisa) Garduno, Danny (Maria) Garduno, and her brother, Leo (Louisa) Valdez. She had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was blessed with a great companion and friend in Paul for the past several years. This friendship gave her many great experiences and memories which she held near and dear to her heart.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Bernie & Andres, her husband Cecil, and brother Paul Abeyta.
A funeral will be held on November 18th, 2022 at St. Vincent De Paul’s Catholic Parish Church (1375 Spring Lane, Holladay, Ut, 84117). Viewing time is between 11:00 – 11:45 A.M. and a mass will be held in her honor at 12:00 P.M.
An interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery (275 U Street, Salt Lake City, Utah 84103).
The family would like to thank all those who loved her unconditionally. Her greatest goal was to live fully with those in her life. We have gained a special angel who will continue to watch over us, just as she did in life.
