Esther G. Archuleta's Obituary
Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Esther G. Martinez Archuleta went to sleep on July 24, 2024 at the age of 83. Born February 20, 1941 to Reverend Rodolfo and Maria Agueda Montoya Martinez in Taos, New Mexico. The Seventh of fifteen children, she grew up in Taos, New Mexico, and Montrose, Colorado. She played baseball and was the pitcher for the boy’s team at school. She met her soulmate Tom Keno Archuleta and relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1959, where they raised their six children.
Esther worked as a homemaker and co-owned and operated alongside her husband A & A General Contractors Inc., a company they built together. Together they donated to various local organizations. She was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed traveling with friends and family, league bowling with her husband, playing cards with friends and going to concerts and local festivals. She played the piano, was an excellent cook and kept her house immaculate. She always had music playing in her home and was very hospitable. She was a kind, strong, positive person, and encourager. She liked to joke around and had a quick wit. She was always the first to rise, preparing for breakfast and the day. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. She lived a full life and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children, Tammy (William) Barba, Tom Jr. (Marie) Archuleta, Terry Archuleta, Toni (David) Hellman, Tina (Tom) Alires, Tracy Archuleta, special nephew’s Joseph Ohrn, and David Baker, 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly, also sisters Isabel Anderson, Lorraine Ohrn, Elizabeth Baker, brothers Steven Martinez and Rick Martinez.
