Federico Javalera's Obituary
Our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Uncle, Federico Javalera, passed away on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 23rd, 2023, at the age of 70, after succumbing to complications stemming from a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Federico was born in Mariano Balleza, Chihuahua, Mexico, in 1952; one of five children born to parents, Catalino Javalera and Manuela Bujanda.
In 1959 he and his family relocated to Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, where he later met his loving wife Maria Javalera (née Ruiz). In 1975, they gave birth to their first son, Jose Javier Javalera, and shortly thereafter immigrated to America in 1978. In 1981, they gave birth to their second son, Frederick Javalera.
Upon settling in the state of Illinois, he was fortunate to secure employment at a Chicagoland college and later as a stable hand on a local horse ranch where he worked for several years until he secured a job in his lifelong profession in residential housing construction.
In 1996, Federico and his family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he worked for over 14 years for Ivory Homes and was well-respected among his peers and colleagues.
Throughout his life, Federico's dedication to his family and relentless work ethic ultimately allowed him to work his way up from a general laborer to the position of Construction Superintendent at the time of his retirement in 2018.
People who knew Federico would often notice and remark upon his ability to responsibly lead by example and to make sacrifices for the benefit of those around him.
His hobbies and interests included hiking and being in nature, fishing, watching sports, and spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed spending time playing with his granddaughter, Presley, who was a spark of joy in his life.
Federico is preceded in death by his mother and father, Catalino and Manuela Javalera. He is survived by his wife, Maria Javalera; sons, Jose (Heather) and Frederick (Tasha) Javalera; granddaughters, Presley Javalera and Kloe Scothern; sisters, Gloria Javalera, Clara (Irving) Wide, and Catalina (Juan) Reyes; brother, Javier Javalera, and many nieces and nephews.
He was very loved and will be greatly missed by all.
His family would like to thank the medical staff at LDS Hospital for their dedication and care in his final days and are grateful for all of their efforts. They would also like to thank family and friends for their love and support.
