Frankie R. Price's Obituary
Frankie R. Price peacefully and courageously passed away at home from complications due to liver cancer on July 25, 2019. She was surrounded by her loving family and was just short of beginning her 89th trip around the sun.\n\nFrankie was born August 12, 1930 in Salt Lake City, UT to Frank and Violet Rucker Rawlins, the fourth of five daughters. Upon graduating from West High, she married her high school sweetheart, Willie Price, sharing 70 years together prior to his passing in 2017. Frankie and Willie left a legacy of nine children, 26 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren; each who were unquestionably welcomed into their hearts and home. Frankie was proud of her family and of her deep-rooted Utah heritage beginning in the 1880s with the arrival of her grandfather, a Buffalo Soldier serving in the US Army at Fort Douglas, and her Eastern Cherokee grandmother. She and Willie continually advocated for human rights, equality, and justice for all, and particularly for people of color and the underserved.\n\nAs a working mother, and many years before it became the norm, Frankie managed to devote herself to both the rigor of her job and the demands of raising a large family. She retired from a long and fulfilling career as a nursing assistant at St. Mark's Hospital where she cared for and comforted countless patients and their families as if they were her longtime friends. Following her retirement, she continued to care for many of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, always finding room for one more and never turning anyone away.\n\nFrankie enjoyed bowling, the game of golf, the Dallas Cowboys, good conversation, a cup of coffee, retail therapy, and frequent jaunts to Wendover with her partner-in-crime, Eva. She always managed to find a bright side to the many challenges that came her way and her glass was always full - one half with optimism and the other half with wine.\n\nFrankie is preceded in death by her parents, her seven siblings, her husband, Willie, three sons: Frank, Bill (Joann), Victor (Alfonsa); and two grandsons, Jeremy and Jason. Frankie is survived by six children: Robin Reynolds, Valerie Spencer (Michael deceased), Kevin (Cory), Elizabeth Davis, Barbara Ann Kennington, and Joey (Kathy); her many grandchildren and a host of extended family.\n\nRecitation of the Rosary and a funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 5, 11:00 a.m. at Saint Patrick Catholic Church, 1058 West 400 South, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Frankie's cremains will be interred the following day at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Funeral Directors, Neil O'Donnell and Sons.\n\nThe family wishes to thank Sarah, Christy, Raylyn and Hunter of Rocky Mountain Hospice for their compassionate care as well as the countless individuals who touched Frankie's life. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to any Hospice or homeless outreach facility in Frankie's memory.
