Harold Ray Heath,'s Obituary
1923-2016\r\n Our sweet Dad, brother and grandfather passed away in loving care early Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016. He was born on Aug. 27, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Harold Ray Heath and Susanna Mitchell Heath. He grew up in Holladay, Utah and was the oldest of the eight "Heath Boys". He graduated from Granite High School in 1941, faithfully served in WWII with the 90th Chemical Mortar Battalion, was a proud Kappa Sigma Fraternity member and graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1947. He was employed, honored and had many friends through Mountain Fuel Supply Company, now Questar Corporation. He married the love of his life Marguerite "Peggy" George on Oct. 7, 1954 at the Cathedral of the Madeleine. He and Peggy were dedicated Hibernian and Nocturnal Adoration Society members, volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen, and helped with many Catholic parish and school functions, including bingo and spaghetti dinners. He was named "Hibernian of the Year" in 1999. Over the years, Hal was active in the Boy Scouts of America and Junior Achievement, volunteered with East High School's Chemistry class and served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. \r\nHe is survived by his four children and their families: Mary Kathleen "Kathy" Heath Meyer (husband Terry, granddaughter Kelsey Brantner, husband Martin), Margo Eileen Heath Chiozzi (husband Richard and grandsons Christopher and Anthony), Julie Ann Heath Elliott (husband Simon and grandsons Michael, Andrew, and Peter) and Paul Harold Heath (wife Donna Pence, grandson Colin and step-grandsons Jeremy and Zachary Millsap), and also brothers Joseph Heath (wife Colleen), Robert Heath (wife Inez) and Henry Heath (wife Joy), along with many nieces, nephews and cousins and their children. Dad was very distinctive and many knew him by his bow-ties, dapper demeanor, his sense of humor and driving an E-type Jaguar which he told Mom was "a family car". Our family would like to extend a special thank you to Karen Atkisson, the At Home caregivers for their love and care for Dad, and especially Erica Labrum who drove Dad lovingly around town and to the cemetery to visit Mom. \r\nA Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Madeleine 109 E. South Temple) on Thursday, Dec. 22 at 2:00pm, followed by committal at Mt. Calvary Cemetery 1th Ave. & T St.). The Holy Rosary will be recited Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 7pm at Neil O'Donnell and Sons Mortuary 172 E. 100 South), where friends may call from 6-7pm.
