Hortense Alice Chavez's Obituary
Hortense (Alice) Chavez, devoted and very much cherished wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away on the morning of May 4th 2021 at the age of 86. She was born on May 12, 1934 to Thomas Romero and Josie Trujillo in Chromo Colorado.
Alice was born and raised on her family farm in Chromo Colorado with her brothers and sisters Waldo, Tilda, Joe, Arnold, and Liz. Her mother gave birth to her at their home assisted by a midwife. She was raised during the depression years, they got around by horse and buggy and the government rationed a lot of essential items which made it hard for them. The ranch is where her and her siblings were most of the time playing, riding horses, and playing in the river.
She married her true love Jose (Victor) Chavez on August 13th. Together they had 5 children whom they loved very much. Family and unity was a big thing for them.
She was such a hardworking and amazing mother, grandmother and person to all who came into her life, she had such a beautiful loving heart, that she loved hard and forgave easy with. She made sure that everyone in the family was happy and taken care of at all times no matter what, that is all she ever cared about. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren they are a huge part of what kept her going especially in the last year of her life.
Alice is Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Victor, and children her beloved Terry, Mike, and Tom, and many other family and friends.
She is survived by her Daughter Linda (Denny) Schoch and their children, Dominic Mckenzie, Nicole ( Parker) Ludlow, and Miguel Schoch, Son Eddie Chavez, Grandchildren Jamie Chavez, Chris (Kari) Chavez, Melanie Chavez, all of her beloved great grandchildren, and so many other people who loved and adored her.
With love and appreciation to Linda, Denny, and their children, also to Terry (Deceased) for all the years they lovingly cared for her and made sure she was very well taken care of and extremely loved until the very end.
You will be greatly missed “old lady”, we all love you so so much! Give grandpa a kiss for us.
There will be a viewing at Neil O'Donnell Funeral Home located at 372 E. 100 S. Salt Lake City, Utah 84111 from 4:00pm-5:30pm followed by the Holy Rosery from 5:30pm-6:00pm on Sunday May 16, 2021. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday May 17, 2021 at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church 1375 E. Spring Ln, Salt Lake City, Utah at 12:00pm with a viewing at 11:00am. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
