Javier Zamora - Ornelas' Obituary
With great sorrow, we announce that Javier Ornelas, passed away at home on Sunday September 8th, 2024, in Salt Lake City, UT.
Born on November 28th,1948 in Jalisco, Mexico, to Jesus Ornelas and Alberta Zamora. He emigrated to California, when he was 18, then moved to Utah with his family in 1980.
He worked as head chef at the Rio Grande until he retired in 2009. He loved his family, cooking, gardening and his truck. Mariachi would bring him to tears and Rancheras brought back good memories. He was a father figure to his sister’s children and many of his children’s friends. We loved him dearly and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his 7 children (Patrick, Angel, Jesse, Chavela, Esperanza, Zenaida & Javier “Junior”), his sister Esther Ornelas and her children (Blanca, Ernesto, Armando & Ramon), 19 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and countless cousins, nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his younger brother Jaime and his parents Jesus & Alberta.
For family and friends that would like to accompany us, a vigil will be held at Neil O’Donnell Funeral Home on Monday September 16th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. With the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe parish on Tuesday September 17th at 12:00pm.
Eternal Rest Grant unto him o Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God, Rest in Peace. Amen
