Jerry Martin Garcia's Obituary
Jerry Martin Garcia, age 62, of West Valley City, Utah, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, surrounded by the people who meant the most to him — his loving family and cherished friends. On that day, Jerry reached for God’s hand and was gently welcomed home. Though his passing leaves an unfillable space here on Earth, there is comfort in knowing that Jerry is now reunited with his beloved brothers, Gilbert Garcia and David Garcia and grandparents Amerante and Jessica Garcia and Alejo and Corina Martinez — a long-awaited embrace that welcomed Jerry in heaven.
Born in Salt Lake City in 1962 and raised in West Valley City. Jerry had a vibrant personality, with a big sense of humor and always left an unforgettable mark on everyone lucky enough to know him.
He was the beloved son of Ramona Garcia and Paul Senior Garcia, and a devoted brother to Ernie Garcia, Paul Garcia, Larry Garcia, and sister Marcella Ellis. He shared a special bond with his brother Paul Jr. and was especially close to his sister Marcella and brother-in-law Ray Ellis. Uncle Jerry also brought love, laughter, and a little chaos (the fun kind) into the lives of many.
Jerry attended Granger High School and went on to work in a variety of fields throughout his life — including at Hydro Flame and in the craft of making wood stoves. But more than any job title, Jerry was defined by the heart he put into caring for others, especially his elderly parents. Being there for them in their later years was something he not only embraced but found joy and meaning in.
Jerry was a true jokester — with a sense of humor as bold as his laugh. He could turn even the dullest moment into a memory and had a way of making it hard to take life too seriously around him. His playful spirit and sharp wit kept everyone on their toes and smiling.
He loved music — classic rock especially — and could often be found with a song in his ears and rhythm in his step. Concerts, good company, and family gatherings were some of his favorite places to be. Jerry lived life freely, guided by connection, laughter, and love.
Christian mass for Jerry will be held April 30th, on Wednesday at 10:00 AM 2025 St. Peters and Paul Catholic church Address: 3560 W 3650 S, West Valley City, UT 84119 — Burial to follow Mount Calvary cemetery, Address: 275 U St, Salt Lake City, UT 84103, United.
Though the music has quieted, the echo of Jerry’s laugh, the rhythm of his stories, and the warmth of his presence will play on in the hearts of all who loved him.
Rock on, Jerry. You were one of a kind.
