Joyce Avanel Gramer's Obituary
Joyce Avanel died peacefully at home in her bed on October 17, 2018.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents, Opal Lahoma and Charles Terry, her husband John William (Bill) Gramer, her son John Kristen (Kris) Gramer, her uncle John Kennedy.\r\nShe is survived by her daughters Terry G. Humphreys (Brad) and Jacque Smithe (Tim), her daughter in law Gina Gramer, her grandchildren Krisann, Charles "Chuck" (Annie), Katie (Todd), Avanel, Paul, Andrew, and Ana, her great-grandchildren Taylor, Maddie, Hallie, Etta and James, and her lifelong friend George Clark.\r\nBorn in Joplin, Missouri, she eventually made her way to Utah graduating from Davis High School.\r\nWords simply aren't enough for the woman that she was, Joyce was truly a free spirit. Her strength and independence highlighted her courage to be part of the world. She was a true entrepreneur, owning several businesses... but eventually dove into the art of floristry.\r\nHer desire to immerse herself in life, she traveled all over the world, often with her close friend Jeri Guss. Ready with a story for a listening ear, she would regale her loved ones with tales that gave a peek at her depth and elegance. She surrounded herself with beauty, nurturing her gardens and creating lovely dinner parties with celebrated guests to truly show her love and rejoice in the best in life.\r\nIn lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to Four Paws Animal Rescue, or a charity of your choice. A funeral mass will be celebrated Wed. 11 a.m. St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 1375 East Spring Lane, there will be a Rosary Tuesday, from 7-9 p.m.\r\n "Do anything, but let it produce joy" - Walt Whitman
