Kathryn Marie Sadler Millar's Obituary
Kathryn Marie Sadler Millar, 74, passed away December 19, 2023. Kathy was born August 8, 1949, in Salt Lake City to Shirley Wardle Sadler and William Horace (Hod) Sadler. She grew up in Magna, UT as the 8th of 14 children, who were all as close as can be. Kathy graduated from Cyprus High School in 1967 and attended the University of Utah. She married the love of her life, John Mathew Millar, in 1977. Their bond was immeasurable. She cherished being a mother and grandmother to her four children and five grandchildren. In addition to several years as a real estate agent, she made her career in customer service for the trucking industry before retiring in 2021.
Kathy was the kindest, most loving person, who felt deeply and cared for everyone she met. She had an unmistakable, infectious laugh. She loved nature, and for many years spent summer weekends camping in the Uinta mountains. In nature, Kathy was most serene, and was often found dancing to the music of the mountains. She sang often. Among her favorite songs to sing was “(They Long to Be) Close to You,” which became her go-to lullaby to sing her children to sleep. Kathy was a devout Catholic and her faith provided her with great comfort. She was an avid football fan. She took great joy in cheering on the Raiders and her annual trip to Las Vegas to celebrate the start of the football season. Kathy also loved animals, and always wanted a dog by her side.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Mat; children Kimber Tiernan, Brandon (Heather) Millar, Morgan Millar (Paul Steinman), Tessie (Marc) Wright; grandchildren Teaj Farmer, Micah Farmer, Grady Millar, Oliver Wright, Lila Wright; siblings Barbara (Max) Porter, Bonnie (Rollo) Bennett, (Pam) Sadler, (Kathy) Sadler, Ron (Dian) Sadler, Joan (Jim) Flores, Stan (Tammie) Sadler, Marjie Holland, (Peggie) Sadler, Mike (Sally) Sadler, Pauline (Brad) Davies; dozens of nieces and nephews; and her dog, Checkers. Preceded in death by her parents Hod and Shirley, siblings Bill (Lani) Sadler, Shirley (Ed) Grose, Terry Sadler, Gordon (Nancy) Sadler, Morgan Sadler; and son-in-law Matthew Farmer.
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister is now at peace, dancing among the wildflowers. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am Friday January 5 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Magna, UT, followed by interment at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
