Leo Montoya's Obituary
Our Dad, Leo Montoya, recently passed away from natural causes. He leaves behind to mourn his passing his loving companion of many years, Rafelita Montoya, and his 10 children: Leona (Bill); Jay; Guy; Luben (Ruthie); Jim (Lisa); Tanya; Reba (Greg); Leo; Max; and Toni. He was predeceased by a son, Tereso Armuelles; his wife, Rebecca Montoya and a daughter, Belen. He is also survived by his lifelong friend, Modesto Ortega; multiple grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was especially close to his nephews, Celso Montoya and Lee Montoya.
Anyone who knew Dad would tell you that his favorite pastimes were work; playing poker; work; patrolling the neighborhood in his golf-cart; and more work. The man lived to work! His other favorite things to do were to score free labor from unsuspecting visitors and free cement for his back yard. Dad was a character, and his concrete jungle and the Leo Montoya Boxing Gym were legendary. The stories we could tell ... but probably shouldn’t.
Instead, we invite you to join us in a Celebration of Life. A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 17th, 2021 at Neil O'Donnell Funeral Home from 6:00 - 7:00 PM with a Memorial from 7:00 - 7:30 PM followed by a Rosary from 7:30 - 8:00 PM. A Mass will be Celebrated on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 400 South Goshen (1050 W). Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 4th Ave. and T Street.
Dad, goodbye and Godspeed!
