Ludivina Louise Borrero's Obituary
Our beloved wife, mother and friend, passed away on August 22nd 2024. Vina was born October 11th 1923 in the small mining town of Sunnyside Utah to Fernando Jose and Leonore Valdez. She was the oldest of six children. Vina was 16 years old when her father died, she went to work in the Salt Lake City laundry to help support the family. In 1945, she fell in love with Ismael Borrero, a young Air Force Airman returning from overseas. They were married at the Lady of Guadalupe Mission in Salt Lake City in 1946. They were unable to have a big wedding or a honeymoon, but they had plenty of love. They moved to San Francisco, California, and set up a housekeeping on a shoestring's budget in a one room apartment. Ismael went to college and worked for the Pinkerton Detective Agency and the Post Office.
He was recalled into the Air Force and sent to Japan. Vina returned to Salt Lake City to live with her mother. She joined him in Japan a year later. Their baby bundle of joy, Anthony was born 8 months later. When they returned to the United States, they were sent to Cheyenne, Wyoming, where Michael was born 2 years after Anthony. After spending 2 years at Mather Air Force in Sacramento, California they were sent to Morocco, North Africa, the land of sand and camels. Where they met many lifelong friends.
After military tours in Ohio and California, Ismael retired as a Senior Master Sergeant. They moved to Rancho Cordova, California, where they raised their 2 sons. Tony then worked for 21 years at the Sacramento Army Depot retiring as a GS 9 in 1991. They moved to Salt Lake City as Vina wanted to be near her relatives and childhood friends.
They celebrated their 50th year wedding anniversary with many friends and family. Vina enjoyed a rich life. She loved to cook and entertain with her family and friends. Her family, church and friends were valued and important to her. She devoted her life to her husband as they walked hand in hand through life. She leaves behind her loving husband, Tony, her sons, Anthony (Stephanie), Michael and her sister, Mary (Steve) Burgess. Proceeded in death by her parents, her brothers, Vete and David Valdez; her sisters, Odilia Dobbs and Victoria Neale
A Catholic Funeral Mass will be performed on Saturday, September 14th at 11 AM at the Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
