Manuel Roberto Velez-Tuero's Obituary
Manuel Roberto Velez-Tuero, (parents wishful name: Juan Manuel Roberto Macedonio Tizoc Velez-Tuero), age 40, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023. Manuel suffered for twelve years with Schizoaffective disorder.
Manuel was born on November 4, 1983, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Joanne R. Tuero and Manuel J. Velez. Manuel was never married or had any children.
Manuel attended parochial schools: St. Ann’s and Judge Memorial. He was a dedicated altar server under the direction of Msgr. John J. Sullivan and Fr. John E. Norman. He was a Tiger to Eagle Scout under the tutelage of Lee Budell and Phil Christensen. Manuel participated in many school sports: Baseball, Basketball, and Football. He was a chorister of the Cathedral of the Madeleine Choir School directed by Mr. Gregory Glenn. He attained an associate degree in psychology from Salt Lake Community College. His first job was at Shopko as a cashier and stocker, then cashiered at Chevron. He worked as an armed security guard for Chenega Corporation. Following, he worked as a mechanic for Hinckley Dodge. Afterwards he worked as a prep cook for Cheesecake Factory and as a cashier for 7/11.
Manuel’s favorite things to do was to watch football with his dad. Playing video games with his best friend Pat and Pat’s family. He loved music, played Guitar Hero which led him to learn the acoustic, electric, Ukulele, and bass guitars and even a left-handed guitar. He liked jamming with his brother-in-law, Chepe. He loved NASCAR so much that he even made a trip to Texas just to watch a race in person. He was very fond of his kitties, Lucky, Lola, Nikki Ling, and Rocket. He loved family parties and was the eternal clown of the family.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother Blandina M. Tuero, cousins, Jessie Tabarez, Richard J. Garcia Jr, uncles John R. Tuero and Carlos V. Garcia, and Aunt Diana I. Murphy.
He is survived by his parents, brother Richard (Kelliann), sister Maria (Chepe), and brother Andres. He has many nephews, nieces, and many cousins who felt very fondly of his tenderness and concern for their wellbeing. He also leaves many friends especially Pat and Dave.
A viewing will take place at Neil O’ Donnell, 372 E. 100 S., Salt Lake City, UT 84111. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 5th from 6pm to 8pm with prayer of the Rosary at 7pm. At 10am on Saturday, January 6th, the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 946 S. 200 E., Salt Lake City, Utah 84111. No repast after services. Interment will take place at 10am on January 9th, at Mount Calvary Cemetery 275 U Street, Salt Lake City, UT 84103 under the care of Neil O’Donnell Funeral Home.
