Maria Victoria Gonzales-Butcher's Obituary
Maria, 90, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, January 24, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on December 18, 1935, in Burmester, Utah, to Dario and Soledad (Sadie) Gonzales. In November 1962, she married her beloved husband, Raymond Butcher, and together they raised three children. After a successful career at Hercules, she worked part-time as a cashier at the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. In her retirement, Maria enjoyed gardening, traveling, spending time outdoors, playing with her grandchildren, visiting family and friends, and indulging in her favorite sweet treats.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her parents, Dario and Sadie Gonzales; her brother, Fred Gonzales; her sister-in-law, Connie Gonzales; and her brother-in-law, Ron Bauer.
She is survived by her sisters, Sarah Bauer and Cindy Archibeque, and her brothers, John Gonzales and George Gonzales. Her children are Jerry Butcher (Caroline), Victoria Nelson (Roger), and Raymond Butcher Jr., along with seven grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, with another on the way.
She was loved and cherished by many and will be dearly missed.
A Rosary will be held at 10 am followed by Mass at 11 am located at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, February 5th, followed by lunch. 1058 W 400 S, Salt Lake City, Utah 84104
