Marie Louise Kane's Obituary
Marie Louise Donahue Kane passed away on June 16, 2022, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born
November 2, 1927, in New Jersey to Catherine V. O'Brien and Earl W. Donahue.
Marie grew up in El Paso, Texas and attended Loretto Academy. She attended Loretto Heights College in
Denver, Colorado and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Chemistry in 1948. She moved to Salt Lake
City in 1948 and met Richard A. Kane, Jr. They were married in El Paso, Texas, on April 26, 1952.
Marie worked as a medical technologist for Holy Cross Hospital until 1956 She worked as a stay-at-home
mother until September of 1972. She joined the staff of the Judge Memorial High School Cafeteria in
1972 and retired as manager in 1988.
Marie was a devoted member of the Catholic Church her entire life. She sang in the choirs at St. Vincent
de Paul, Saint Martin de Porres and St. Joseph the Worker Parishes. Marie loved the opera, music and
singing. She was St. Martin de Porres Woman of the Year in 1996 and a member of Nocturnal Adoration
Society, Kappa Gamma Pi, and a Holy Cross Associate.
She was feisty but kind, generous, funny, had a fantastic memory and excelled at Trivial Pursuit,
Scrabble, and other word games. Marie loved her faith and family above all else.
Marie is survived by her children Richard (Martha), John (Marian), Joe, Marie Louise Black, Earl,
Catherine, and Anna Aardahl (Chris), sixteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and
numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, her daughter-in-law,
Brenda and granddaughter, Shannon.
A vigil service will be held on Sunday, June 26, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at St. Martin de Porres Catholic
Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, June 27, at 11:00 AM at the church. Committal will
be at Mount Calvary Cemetery following the Funeral Mass.

Catholic Church, or a Charity of your choice in Marie's memory.
