I worked in a business next to Mario Professional Tailoring for 10 years. I will miss his energetic personality and his humor. I loved hanging out in his shop and talking about current events and his life experiences. His mother was a dress maker and his father was a shoe maker in Italy. He studied very hard to become a tailor. His dream of becoming a US citizen was a very special event for him. He had a sign in his office: \"Above the soil American, Below the soil Italian Roots.\" He was very proud of where he came from and his Italian heritage. Thankfully he never lost his Italian accent. He was sometimes difficult to understand but his laugh was contagious and he shared many smiles. He won the title of Best Tailor in Utah many times. A government official designated May 18th as \"MARIO CALIGIURI DAY.\" On his walls at his shop he had letters from celebrities, government officials, and other powerful people in Utah thanking him for his professional tailoring. He was an active politician and spoke his mind whether the person listening wanted to hear it or not. He was a very special friend and I will miss seeing him daily.
