Mary "Angie" Duran Gallegos' Obituary
Mary “Angie” Duran Gallegos, 83, of Salt Lake City, Utah passed away on June 20, 2023, surrounded by family.
Angie was born on September 19, 1939, to Rufina Martinez and Diego Duran in Fruita, Colorado.
She later relocated to Salt Lake City in 1950 where she met Benjamin “Benny” Gallegos. They married in 1974 and began their life’s journey together. Family was the center of her world. She will be remembered for her thoughtfulness and compassion towards others, including animals, especially her dogs Lola and Luna.
Angie enjoyed spending time in Wendover and playing Bingo. She spent most of her time with her daughter Debra, they were two peas in a pod, anywhere Debra went Angie was sure to be, they were inseparable. She enjoyed being in the comfort of her home with the support of her grandson John and granddaughter Nikki. We will without a doubt miss her kindhearted soul. We love and will miss you, and your god blesses, and I love you’s.
Angie was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, husband, Benjamin Gallegos, sister Mary Sandoval, and brother and sister-in-law Tommy and Joy Duran. She is survived by her children Debra Candelaria, and Cindy Martinez (Dennis Martinez), and grandchildren John, Chantell (Ralph Alvillar), Jose, Joshua, Joseph, Daniel and 9 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren, and Goddaughter, Liz Alvarez, numerous nieces, and nephews. She held a special place in her heart for Jose Guanajuato, whom she considered a son.
A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe on Wednesday, June 28th at 11:00am located at 257 North 700 West, Salt Lake City. A graveside service will be held immediately after at the Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
