Mary Margaret Howa Martinez, born on July 3,1963, in Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away on August 9, 2023, after bravely battling illness for several months. She left this world surrounded by her loved ones in Salt Lake City, the place she called home throughout her remarkable life.
Born to her devoted Mother, Nancy Howa. Mary adored her two older sisters, together they formed a resilient foundation, raising their families side by side, creating cherished memories and fostering an unbreakable bond. Through thick and thin, they exemplified the true essence of sisterhood. Following the loss of their sister Alice Michele, Linda and Mary became each other's pillars of strength, a testament to the enduring power of family. Mary met and spent 33 years with her spouse Dennis Robinson, together they made a beautiful daughter Elizabeth Christina Wright.
Professionally, Mary found her passion in working with children. Her career began with the county at Kiwanis and then extended to the Christmas Box House before ultimately finding her place at the Salt Lake county district attorney's juvenile office. Her dedication to serving and protecting the well-being of children was evident in her every action.
Mary's heart overflowed with love for her family, and she embraced every moment spent in their company. Her joy was evident as she engaged in various pursuits, from cooking and baking to crafting, gardening, and shopping. Her adventurous spirit led her to the outdoors, where camping and exploring canyons, especially Bryce Canyon, brought her immense happiness. Mary had a remarkable talent for planning events and parties, and no holiday was too small to celebrate with her family, friends, and colleagues. Her attention to detail and flair for making every occasion memorable will forever be cherished.
Kindness was the hallmark of Mary's character. Her selfless nature touched everyone around her. She approached life with an open heart, always ready to lend a helping hand, offer a listening ear, or share her expertise. From customizing meals to guiding crafting endeavors, Mary's generosity knew no bounds. Mary's love extended to her cherished canine companions. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and warmth that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Nancy, her sister Alice Michele, her uncles David and Ray (Kay) and her aunt Sister Alice Michele. She leaves behind a loving family to honor her memory and continue her legacy. Mary is survived by her spouse, Dennis; her daughter, Elizabeth (Skyler); her grandson, Oakley; her sister, Linda; her brother in-law Randy; her nephew, Ricky (Jaden); her nieces, Kimberly (Chad), Andrea (Matt), Jolene (Miguel), and Sarah (Dylan). Great nephews Randy Lynn (Helen), Andre, Alex, Manuel, Seth, Jack, Zachariah, Benjamin Blu, and Malcolm; great nieces, Gaby, Angelina (Tito), Beth, Ali, Jasmine, Asia, and America; and great-great nephews Adawnis and Reighn Armani. Mary held a special place in her heart for her two Godchildren Andrea and Randy Lynn. Mary leaves behind many family members, extended family and close friends.
A funeral, rosary, and mass will be conducted at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, located at 946 S 200 E, Salt Lake City, UT 84111, on Tuesday at 2:00 pm. As we gather to remember and honor Mary's legacy, let us find solace in the beautiful memories she leaves behind and strive to keep her spirit of kindness alive in our hearts.
