Mary married Ronald Gregory Swim on June 18, 1943, in Baltimore Maryland. Together they had eleven children, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After spending a few years in Baltimore and Raleigh, North Carolina Mom and Dad made their home in Salt Lake City in 1957.
Mary’s greatest joy were her children. Early on she was a stay-at-home mom. Mom went to work after her last child entered elementary school. She was a terrific mother and mentor to her children.
Mom was an active member of the Catholic church. One of Mom’s passions was playing bridge with her husband and friends. As her family grew, she got them involved in competitive swimming. Year after year she would travel all over the country taking her kids to wherever the swim meet might be that weekend. As she approached retirement, she and Dad spent most of their time at Bear Lake where she developed long lasting friendships with her neighbors at the lake. Later in life she became an avid reader.
After Dad’s passing in 1986 she moved to West Valley City. Mom endured many tragedies in her life starting early in her childhood and continuing throughout her adult life. Mom’s strength and resiliency were always on display throughout her life. She was an amazing woman.
Mary is survived by her daughter Patricia, sons Dennis (Donna), Larry (Denice), Kenneth, Vincent, Terry (Jennifer) Kevin, and her faithful Pomeranian - Missy She is preceded in death by her husband Ron, and four of her children – Gregory, Donna, Brian and Paula.
