Mckayla Glitz Reedy's Obituary
Mckayla Glitz Reedy, age 44, passed away on January 12th, 2024 at home in Orem, Utah after fighting a long battle with mental illness.. Mckayla was born on August 4th, 1979 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Sybil and Richard Reedy. She lived in New Mexico until she was 6, then moved to Utah where she resided for the rest of her life.
Growing up Mckayla was a very shy, obedient girl - she loved helping her mom do chores around the house. As she got a little older her personality emerged, where she learned she can do unique things to get weird looks and reactions out of people. Her brother Bradley made sure she learned how to stand up for herself and others, which she never stopped doing.
Mckayla was known for making friends with any person she even said hi to. She was always authentically herself, no matter the place. She was recognized for her glittering personality - for the bright light of happiness she shed on everyone she talked to. She always put others before herself and if anyone needed help, she was there from start to finish - no questions asked. Usually in booty shorts and a crop top, with glitter somewhere on her, yelling Daddy at the top of her lungs! Mckayla had a love for being creative with building, making beautiful items from thrifted and secondhand pieces. She enjoyed traveling and exploring, always seeing the world with wonder. She absolutely loved dancing - at any moment, any time, no matter the place - she adored shaking it! She had a passion for skating, and loved her Roller Derby family. Most importantly, she loved any moment she got to create memories with her kids. One of the most important things she tried to teach everyone, through her actions, is to love EVERYONE and not judge - especially the haters.
Mckayla is survived by her 5 children: Karissa, Taelyn (Hyrum), Carter, Abram, and Nathan; her life partner, Michelle Greenfield; partner, Devin Piper; her ex-wife, Brenda; multiple other partners; & her siblings Daryl and Brad. She was preceded in death by her parents, unborn kids, and other family members. Mckayla was celebrated in many circles.
Two celebrations of her life will be held: All Ages: Tuesday, January 23, 2024, 9-11pm Orem Classic Skating Center 250 South State Street Orem, Utah 84058 21+ with valid ID Friday, January 26,2024 7pm–closing Club Verse 609 South State Street Salt Lake City, Utah 84111
