Michael John Walters' Obituary
"With each day that passes, I will continue to look up and know you're by my side. I will strive for greatness and ensure our name is carried on with honor and one that will stand the test of time." - Michael John Walters Jr.\r\n\r\nMichael John Walters Sr. (Grumpy) was born in Salt Lake City, Utah November 21, 1950 and passed unexpectedly on November 20, 2018. His life could only be described as a "journey" and he is characterized as one of a kind for all who knew him. He was a hard man to read but a man who would give you the shirt of his back. He was a kid at heart; a grown man who loved Disneyland and Christmas more than most children; to a point he listened to Christmas music 12 months out of the year. He loved his country and was proud to be called a United States Marine. He served his country in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart and Cross of Gallantry for his actions. Upon his return home, he began his 40-year passion in the baking industry, spending 25 plus year with Hostess Cake/Wonder Bread and finishing his career with his biggest accomplishment; Loves Bakery. Michael loved the game of golf shared by his son (Michael Jr), grandson (Michael III) and granddaughter (Cabria). We know he's now walking in the fairways of heaven and looking down on all those he loved.\r\n\r\nMichael is survived by his wife Ray Walters, son Michael John Walters Jr, grandchildren Michael John Walters III, Cabria Marie Walters, Kyle Marie Walters (deceased), daughter-in-law Mandy Walters, Stepchildren, Ronald, Regina, Rosannah, Raycherie, Ronson, Bruce Step Grandchildren, Teretia, Reef, Makoa, Blessing, Zailah Rae, Zayrie, Zeiden, Kealani, Ariya, Roxson, brother Patrick Walters, sisters Mary Anne Isner, Teresa Newsome and many loving nieces and nephews.\r\n\r\nA funeral mass will be celebrated 12:30 p.m. Tuesday December 4, 2018 at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City. A vigil service will be held 7:00 p.m. at the Neil O'Donnell & Sons Mortuary 372 East 100 South, Monday December 3rd, where friends may call 1 hour prior.
