Muriel Panos Johnson's Obituary
Muriel Lindquist Panos Johnson\r\n\r\n"Sally"\r\n\r\nOur beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Wife, Aunt and Friend has gone home to the Lord. Sally Johnson, 81, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away April 26, 2017, surrounded in love by her family.\r\n\r\nSally was born January 19, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah into a large family, when we mean large, we mean large- 11 brothers and sisters- to Alfred and Muriel Lindquist. She was a graduate of Granite High School. Sally was very curious and independent which led her to marry George Panos at a young age. George was gentle and kind and they were deeply in love and very happy, enjoying their lives together and raising seven children. They were a very close family with lots of love, laughter, bologna sandwiches, and family dinners in shifts. Sally lost the love of her life, her husband George in 1981. She remained strong and dedicated in raising her family and her employment at Mountain Bell, where she met her second husband Owen B. "O.B." Johnson. They later married and Sally moved to Big Sky Country - Billings, Montana. O.B. was a very dedicated and generous husband. Sally and O.B. were married for seven wonderful years until he passed. They were very social and had many friends. Sally spent 18 memorable years enjoying everything Montana had to offer; snowshoeing, cross country skiing, golfing, and the mountains. She volunteered at the local hospital and was an active member of the Women's Croiselle prayer group. Sally moved back to be closer to her family in Salt Lake City in 2001 where she became actively involved again by volunteering with the Good Samaritan program at the Cathedral of the Madeline.\r\n\r\nSally loved the opera, symphony, and the repertory theatre, which she attended regularly with her close friend, John Marks. Sally also loved gardening and enjoyed golf with her friends and family. We believe that in Sally's last days, she held on a little longer to feel the warmth of the spring sun and to see the beauty of her rock garden. Sally loved her family, especially her grand babies. She will be greatly missed by so many who loved her.\r\n\r\nSally is survived by her children; John Panos, Stephanie (Ruben) Flores, Chris (Heather) Panos, Andy Panos, Anne (Pete) Griffin, and Edward (Allison) Panos. Her grandchildren; Nick (Madison) Panos, Stephen (Emma) Panos, Stephanie and Phil Panos, Anthony and Katie Flores, Hannah and Caroline Panos, Zoe Griffin, and Lauren and Georgi Panos. Her great grandchildren; Stella, Norah, and Adam Panos. Her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Theda and Edward Mawod, in addition to many brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews who were very special to her.\r\n\r\nSally was preceded in death by her husbands, George Panos and Owen B. Johnson; son James Panos; her brothers, Clyde and Alfred Lindquist, and her sister, Nadine.\r\n\r\nWe would like to give special thanks to the CNS Hospice nurses, Shelley and Rachel, and the Danville Caregivers, Leah MacMinn and Palavi Kaufusi, who were mom's special angels every day. To the Huntsman Cancer Institute, especially to Dr. Anna Beck, who gave our mom great comfort in her battle with cancer.\r\n\r\nA funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, May 5, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 331 East South Temple. A vigil service will be held Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at Neil O'Donnell and Sons Mortuary, 372 East 100 South. Committal, Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 4th Avenue and T Street.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest that you please consider a donation to the Utah Symphony and Opera, her favorite charity. Please donate online www.usuo.org/give.\r\n\r\nUntil we see you again Mom, "Kitchen is closed!"
