Nick Andre Young's Obituary
Nick Andre Young passed away on March 14, 2023 at the age of seventy-one. He lived a beautiful life as he had a big heart with much love for his family. He was an exemplary man who was kind and generous to everyone around him. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Nick was also a good neighbor and friend. He grew up in McGill, Nevada where he first learned to love the outdoors and baseball. After graduating from West High in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1969 Nick graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Education and Sociology. He received his Master of Education from the University of Utah and his Master in Counseling later in his career. He dedicated almost forty years of teaching and counseling with the Granite School District which directly impacted the lives of thousands of students. Nick also served in the Air Force Reserve for almost 10 years. He lived a good life enjoying his retirement with all his favorite activities. He enjoyed spending lots of time with his grandkids and great grandkids, who called him Baba. He got to share his love of fishing, tying flies, hunting, eating good food and photography with all of them. Fishing on the Kenai was one of his favorites; he even pushed through the snow in October to fish its banks. He also enjoyed Qigong and Tai Chi with friends at the Sports Mall. Nick was well loved by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Betsy Watson; sisters Stephanie Taylor (Lamar), Donna Stimak (Mike), Tracy Robertson; daughters, Charlene Lyman (Sterling), Tina Greenhalgh (Kevin), Michelle Young; step-children Alex Watson, Alison Tate (Kelly), Addie Wagstaff (Ronnie); 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Jaunita Young and Tula and Warren Lee; step-brother Randy Martin (Becky).
