Patricia Ann Reynolds' Obituary
Patricia Nelson Reynolds decided on Dec. 25, 2020, that her work on Earth was done and that it was time to join her departed family in Heaven for a spectacular Christmas celebration. She passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side after a short illness.
Patty was born on Dec. 29, 1949 to Richard and Fae Nelson in Salt Lake City, Utah. The oldest of four, it was her life’s mission to be the protector, and terrorizer of her three younger sisters. Patty grew up in Salt Lake City, attending Kearns-Saint Ann Catholic School as a little girl and was always quick to entertain her family with stories of the Sisters who taught her.
Patty was a fantastic storyteller and our family historian. She took pride in her ancestors, those who emigrated over from Ireland, and the roots they built in the Salt Lake Valley. But most important to Patty was her family. She loved her family – and they loved her.
On Dec. 12, 1970, Patty was blessed with the birth of her first-born son, Richard. For twelve wonderful years, he was the light of her life – and she, too, the light of his. When he joined the angels in Heaven on June 12, 1983, Patty gained her Guardian Angel.
A year later, Patty married the love of her life, Daniel Reynolds. They were the proud, incredible parents of two sons Nephi and Sean.
Patty adored children and spent most of her life teaching, nurturing and lifting up every child she met – either in her personal life or in her professional as a preschool teacher.
She was also our family’s rock. Patty was the tough, no-nonsense matron of our often-wild clan and was quick to tame anyone who ever got just a bit out of control. But it all came from a place of love and that is what she offered the most: her extraordinary heart.
Patty enjoyed her grandbabies, baking, politics, her soap operas (the ones that weren’t canceled), Marvel movies, posting on Facebook, spending as much time as she could in her garden, and, most of all, her Catholicism. Patty’s faith was very important to her and always her source of strength during some of the most difficult moments of her life.
Patty is survived by her two heartbroken sons Nephi (Landon) and Sean; her three best friends (her sisters) Kathy (Joseph) Sanders, Caroline (Lloyd) Sadler and Jennifer (Michael) Popich as well as grandbabies, nieces and nephews and so many family and friends who made her life such a joy to live.
She is now reunited with her son Richard, her parents Fae and Dick and her husband Daniel, all of whom she missed terribly.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be given to stjude.org.
