Patricia Mary Ritter's Obituary
Patricia Mary Ritter, age 85, passed away peacefully on the morning of October 18th, 2021 at the University of Utah Hospital due to heart failure. She was born in May of 1936 to Florence and Leonard Steere in Whittier, California. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ronald, and their three children and seven grandchildren.
Family was of the greatest importance to Patricia. She loved family gatherings - especially Thanksgiving and Christmas - and took great pride in her decorations and in building family connections. Raising her three kids was something she considered to be her greatest achievement. She was a devoted wife and mom who was always there to help with homework, take her children to activities, and support those around her in their endeavors. Perhaps her strongest trait was that she always did what she could for others and rarely asked for anything for herself.
Adventure played a big role in her life, whether it was her years as a Pan Am stewardess in the late 1950’s or spending time traveling to nearly 100 countries, mostly with her husband. She loved the outdoors, and experienced many big trips such as tent camping in the African bush, sailing in the Pacific, rafting the Grand Canyon, and backpacking in the mountains.
She will be greatly missed, but her legacy lives on in our memories and the cherished stories she told so often. Her family cabin and belongings passed down will serve not just as reminders of her presence, but as reminders of the wonderful life she lived and the everlasting impression she left on everyone she touched. We will miss you, and will always love you. You were surrounded by love in your passing, and your love and caring will continue on through the generations in the example you set for us all.
