October 20, 1942 - April 20, 2017\r\nRalph Donald Astorga, (Jr.) passed away quietly at home on Thursday, April 20, 2017, West Valley City, Utah, from heart complications.\r\nRalph was born on October 20, 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ralph Astorga (Sr.) and Mary Gomez. He was the eldest of four children. He was close to his siblings throughout his life, Barbara Astorga, Debbie Astorga, Tom Astorga (deceased), and Grandmother Augustina (Tina) Cabrera, (deceased).\r\nRalph attended Judge Memorial and West High School, completing the 11th grade, 1958. He continued his education at "Utah Trade Tech", completing his GED.\r\nHe was an avid Denver Broncos football fan attending many home games, passionate golfer, and devoted to his "fur babies", Allie, aka Allie-gator, Harlee, Spanky, and Rooster- Chicken; aka Cat.\r\nRalph married Bernadette Martinez; his "little dove", August 2, 1984. He was blessed with four children, eldest son Yancy Astorga, Donald Astorga, Kurt Astorga and daughter Tonya Astorga and several grandchildren, Courtney, Michael A., Jonathan, Elisha, Gregory, Michael C., Jared, Feliz and several great- grandchildren. \r\nHe was employed at Kennecott Copper, in various jobs for 50 years, retiring in 2012. He also served as a member of Local 392 Steelworkers union and his passion as Local 392 President for 19 years, dedicated to ensuring the rights, safety, and equity of ALL working individuals. \r\nWe are at a loss of our loving husband, father, brother, friend and his giving nature. A Private viewing for immediate family only, per Ralph's request, will be held Thursday, April 27th at Neil O'Donnell & Sons Mortuary, 372 East 100 South, Salt Lake City, Utah, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by the Rosary, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. all that would like to attend the Rosary are welcome.\r\nA Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Jude Maronite Catholic Parrish, 4900 Wasatch Street, Murray, Utah on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., followed by internment at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 4th Ave. & 'T' Street, followed by a reception at Saint Jude Maronite Catholic Parrish. \r\nIn lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Ralph Astorga's name; 100) 805-5856.\r\n
