Raymond R. Ortiz's Obituary
Raymond R. Ortiz (Ray) our beloved father, brother, nephew, and son, passed away surrounded by his family and friends after experiencing a battle with cancer on his own terms. He lived an active lifestyle consistently keeping fit, enjoying the outdoors, and reading for leisure. Ray enjoyed pick-up games at Jordan Park while sporting the latest Ralph Lauren Polo or Jordan gear. Ray was a proud and hardworking employee of D&S Construction where he made many strong friendships that supported him throughout his life. When Ray was not working you could easily find him hanging out with his uncle Herk cruising his low rider while listening to oldies. Later in life, and after his diagnosis, he spent much time reconnecting with loved ones, especially his daughter Julie and his lifelong companion Stephanie. He is proceeded in death by his maternal grandparents (Ortiz/Capeles), his father Raymond Lovato, mother Olga Ortiz Gomez, and brother Che Ortiz. He is survived by his sisters Alice Ortiz, Angel Ortiz, Sonya Taosoga, daughters Julie, Jeena, Regina, son Anthony, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service will take place on Thursday July 29 at 7 pm at Neil O’Donnell Mortuary, 372 East 100 South, where friends may visit from 6:00 - 7:00 pm. Due to COVID please wear a mask if you are not fully vaccinated. Friends, neighbors, and those who knew him are welcome to attend and share their loving memories with our family. On behalf of the Ortiz Capeles family, we would like to offer a special thanks to Stephanie Reynold’s for taking care of our beloved Ray in his last months of life, and being his guiding light.
